Kaplan & Stratton is a premier Kenyan practice providing a comprehensive range of legal services and solutions for domestic and international clients. The firm has a reputation as one of the leading law firms in the East African region. The editorial notes for the 2003/2004 edition of the Chambers and Partners Guide to the World’s Leading Lawyers (over which the firm has no influence) say:

"The firm retains its leading status as the 'most reliable' choice for top corporates following overwhelming market commendation. Its strength resides in the high number of skilled lawyers in its team of 15 partners and 10 associates."
The firm was established in 1934. We are a stable partnership with a healthy age profile – the average age of the partners being less than 45. We have a total of 23 qualified lawyers and several para-legal staff. This makes us the largest legal firm in East Africa.

Kaplan & Stratton has a strong reputation for advice in corporate and commercial law, investment, banking, taxation and complex litigation and dispute resolution.

We offer a sophisticated and comprehensive service to our clients who range from domestic and international companies, banks, development finance agencies, and non-government organisations in all sectors of the economy. Our work covers business law, corporate finance, project finance, financial services, banking, capital markets, power, telecommunications, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and horticulture, beverage and other consumer products. We represent clients in litigation and provide dispute resolution advice in all of these areas. The firm also works as Kenyan counsel for many international law firms from Europe, North America and South Africa and their clients.

Whilst small by international standards we have arranged our practice in order to be able to provide teams of lawyers for large-scale transactions. Our transaction teams are led by experienced partners who stay closely involved in all aspects of our clients’ work.

Kaplan & Stratton was a founder member of Lex Africa, an association of independent firms across Africa. The firm is also the Kenya member for the global network of law firms Lex Mundi.

Our objective is to give high quality legal and commercial advice through an efficiently managed professional practice that will facilitate our clients’ business dealings in Kenya and elsewhere in the East African region.
